Once again this football season, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation. Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page. |

September 17, 2000 This week's featured assistant coach: Kyle Segura, Runningbacks and Backfield Coach Coach Segura's Background
|
| On the Runningbacks Jeff Bergeron is out tailback. He rushed for over 1,000 yards last year. He's so strong. He has great balance and great vision. He's a good player. I'm ready to turn him loose. He got a lot of experience blocking last year. He started 16 games at fullback. He's a heck of a blocker. He's a great leader. The kids look up to him. He was on the varsity as a sophomore. Josh Hidalgo was on the varsity last year in a backup role at fullback. He's a power fullback, a real strong blocker. Nathan Perez rotates in at fullback. He runs well and is quick. When we run option schemes, he's good at that. He's a junior, and was on JV last year. We rotate them both in the games. Tracye Boudoin scored a touchdown last night at fullback. He's a little of both Josh and Nathan put together. he can run and he can score. He's a defensive starter, so he can get tired. He hasn't played as much as I want him to. So really, we have three fullbacks that we're going to play. We have two backup tailbacks, Brady Flores and Kegan Swann, both juniors. If Jeff went down, they would split time at tailback. They're both defensive starters. They both have good speed. They're real versatile. On the Jacksonville Game We thought we improved somewhat from Crosby. We had 17 points at halftime. We were beating them at halftime. We didn't get many snaps the second half. There are a lot of things we have to correct, and we will. On Kingwood They're a 5-A team. They're 0-2, and played two real good teams. They remind us of PN-G. Although they haven't won a game, that is misleading. They scored 21 points on The Woodlands. They got shutout last week. They're good; we have no slouches in our non-district games. |
